Acquire the confidence and skills to express yourself clearly and effectively in business and your personal life. We focus on building clarity, assertiveness and the capacity to speak in a way that captures attention. Make your contributions more audible and more memorable. A course for life: FIND YOUR VOICE. The right wordsMany people have no trouble speaking in public but feel utterly incompetent when it comes to handling difficult one to one communications with sensitivity and skill. How many situations can you think of where you have said something inappropriate, made a silly joke or left an uncomfortable silence because you didn't know what to say? Handling job appraisals, breaking disappointing news, expressing sympathy for loss, complaining effectively when something goes wrong, or even giving feedback on your child's homework are all things we can get spectacularly wrong, often with upsetting consequences. Life runs far more smoothly if you feel confident enough to ask appropriate questions, express genuine concern and look someone in the face when breaking bad news or giving criticism. Saying "no" without giving offence, paying sincere compliments, and chatting easily to strangers are simple skills that many bright and successful people haven't mastered. Build fruitful relationships by learning the art of handling business and personal communications with honesty and sensitivity. Making an impressionThe impression we make on others is based 55% on non-verbal signals such as body language and confidence, 38% on vocal cues such as tone, intonation, and accent, and only 7% on the content of the words we actually speak according to the American psychologist Mehrabian. Some psychologists think the non-verbal proportion is even higher. Looking and sounding convincing are vital. We place emphasis on getting the words and the arguments right but how many of us are trained to deliver the lines with conviction? Or to respond appropriately to the audience - whether one person or a crowd - when it is obvious our message has not gone down well? Communicating successfully means having the confidence in yourself to be able to think on your feet, and the capacity to understand the reactions of others. Finding Your Voice is not just a presentation skills course - although it includes elements of that; it is designed to help you feel more confident about all aspects of your interpersonal communication. Over 12 sessions this personal development programme tackles the minefield of successful communication from three angles: USING LANGUAGE:
